Hugo is a lecturer, researcher, software architect and developer with over 10 years experience focused in high-quality, highly-adaptable, large-scale and critical solutions. His career experience encompases projects for government, military and businesses, both at national and international level. Today Hugo specialises in research, training and consultancy in Object-Oriented Programming, Software Architecture, Agile Methodologies, UML and Design Patterns.
After receiving a Licentiate Engineering degree in Informatics and Computation Engineering, Hugo worked in military R&D for NATO at ParadigmaXis, S.A. There he progressively assumed the roles of developer, team leader, software architect, and project manager in several government and privately held projects. Once a PhD candidate in meta-programming and model-driven software engineering, Hugo has been lecturing at various universities for a number of years, principally at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. He has since been awarded his Joint PhD, with distinction, in Computer Science by the Universities of Minho (UM), Aveiro (UA) and Porto (UP).

Paulo is an online advertising technology expert with a 14 year mixed background of Computing, Web Marketing and Advertising technologies.
Paulo’s interest in the online media space goes as far back as 1997 when he first started web development, web marketing and SEO activities for local SME’s. This was followed by heading the web development department of a design agency before he moved to London to achieve a first class BSc in Computing and Information Systems from London Metropolitan University. After working for the data-centric direct marketing company Acxiom, Paulo joined German start-up wunderloop, the online ‘Behavioural Targeting’ company launched in Europe in 2006. Here he lead it’s UK technology deployment and from 2008 focused in researching and designing for the company’s online advertising exchange platform.
Finding a need in the growing European online advertising market for highly qualified expertise in advertising technology, Paulo has been a strategic technology consultant from the begining of 2010. He has since collaborated with companies such as Glam Media, Semasio GmbH, Klaustech, xplosion amongst others in designing and rolling-out large-scale advertising platforms, behavioural targeting products and yield management systems.

Tiago is ShiftForward’s lead in the Python, Lettuce and Google App Engine arenas.
During his Master’s degree in Computation and Informatics Engineering, Tiago grew a strong interest for Software Design and Architecture and a fondness for Python. His professional career so far took him through various R&D positions at software houses as well as teaching in the academic world. This is where he is currently undertaking his PhD in the field of Software Engineering, studying on how to improve the IDEs of Dynamic Languages to create a new breed of tools, the Live Development Environment.

André’s research and knowledge in the fields of non-relational databases and high-performance computing, along with a Masters in Computing Engineering, make him a great asset to the ShiftForward team. His international experience in the academic world made him a Ruby On Rails aficionado and can be commonly seen discussing its advantages with everyone who dares listen. André is currently leading ShiftForward’s distributed platforms R&D for online advertising.
