Portugal Ventures

Founded in June 2012, as a result of the merger of the three previously existing state-backed Venture Capital and Private Equity firms, Portugal Ventures is driving the fast growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Portugal, focusing its investments in innovative, scientific and technology-based companies. The firm currently manages approximately €450 million in assets. Some Seed phase funds managed by Portugal Ventures are backed by the European Union through funding provided by COMPETE/POR Lisboa to FINOVA, the fund of funds managed by PME Investimentos.

One of London’s internet veterans with over 17 years experience working in the online media industry. Brian began his career as the only online planner / buyer at Mediacom in 1997, helping brands take their first steps into online advertising.

Following this, Brian took roles at GAME Group UK and Lycos Europe where his team took it to Europe’s fourth largest online display network. Back to WPP, Brian Launched B3 in 2008 and was responsible for adding Zap Trader, Zap Attribution Modelling and Zap Analytics to create The MIG in 2010.

In his last role as European Managing Director at Adap.tv, Brian lead the expansion of the European business and managed the transition after the companies acquisition by AOL in 2013.

Florian Heinemann is co-founder and managing director of a Project A Ventures and has been an investor/business angel in more than 40 startups including AdScale, Ladenzeile, Netmoms, and Tradoria. Before co-founding Project A, he was managing director of Rocket Internet (2007-2012) where he was mainly involved in TopTarif, eDarling, and Zalando/Bigfoot.

Prior to Rocket, Florian was co-founder and MD of JustBooks/AbeBooks (1999-2002, exit to Amazon), co-headed online marketing for Jamba! and the online dating portal iLove (2003-2005, exit to Verisign).

Florian also holds a doctorate’s degree in innovation management/entrepreneurship from RWTH Aachen University.
